| THE ARTS Our programs in the arts inspire youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts, performing arts and creative writing. Our members receive lessons in ballet, African dance, Latin dance. They attend field trips to the ballet, symphony and the theater. Members are encouraged to display their talents through talent shows which emphasize poetry, song and dance. Research shows that youth engaged in quality arts programs, both in school and after school, do better in school and in their personal lives. Participation in and appreciation of the arts fosters self-esteem, motivation, confidence, understanding, independence and creativity. In school and in life, experience in the arts transcends every human experience exercising the mind, body and soul. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington's programs enable youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts, crafts, performing arts and creative writing.
