Children are facing overwhelming obstacles. Drugs,
peer pressure, gangs, hopelessness, disregard for human life...
the list goes on.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington gives
youth the guidance and arms them with the tools to engage in positive
behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals
and live successfully as self-sufficient adults.
Programs deal with sensitive topics such as drug and
gang prevention, self-esteem, HIV/AIDS prevention, safety, teen
pregnancy prevention and more.

SMART Moves
(Skills Mastery and Resistance Training)
This nationally acclaimed comprehensive prevention
program helps young people resist alcohol, tobacco and other drug
use, as well as premature sexual activity. SMART Moves features
engaging, interactive, small-group activities that increase participants'
peer support, enhance their life skills, build their resiliency
and strengthen their leadership skills.
This year-round program's components include SMART
Kids for ages 6-19; Start SMARAR, for ages 10-12, Stay SMART, for
ages 13-15, and SMART Leaders for older teens.
Passport to
Manhood
This program promotes and teaches responsibility
to boys ages 11-14. Each Club members is issues a passport to underscore
the notion that he is on a personal journey of maturation and growth.
SMART Girls
SMART Girls is a small-group program that enhances
girls' physical and emotional well-being and increases their self-esteem.
Through dynamic sessions, highly participatory activities, field
trips and mentoring opportunities with adult women, Club girls explore
their own and societal attitudes and values as they build skills
for eating right, staying physically fit, getting good health care,
and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.
Boys & Girls Club PROGRAMS are tools for inspiring
and enabling young people to realize their full potential.
